Missouri Chamber to host virtual Diversity & Inclusion workshops, discussions for employers

Employees and consumers alike are seeking out more socially responsible companies, and organizations have taken notice. More and more companies are taking intentional action to foster a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for employees.

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Diversity & Inclusion Webinar Series will explore best practices and inspire frank discussion around these critical issues with insight from leading experts.

The four-part series begins Tuesday, July 14. Each segment will begin at 10:00am. SHRM credits and continuing legal education credits including Ethics and Elimination of Bias will be offered to participants of the livestream event. The deadline to register for the July 14 segment is Monday, July 13.

July 14 Workshop: Steps for Implementing a Diversity and Inclusion Strategy — Dr. Nika White, Nika White Consulting

Dr. White will help participants understand the importance of establishing diversity and inclusion policy, give easy-to-follow action items for implementation and provide tools to help measure program success. Participants will leave with the materials and the motivation they need to hit the ground running in their organizations to establish a diversity and inclusion strategy or fine-tune an existing program

July 21 Workshop: How to Recruit and Retain Diverse Talent — Gloria Carter Hicks, Hicks Carter Hicks

Organizations will discover why they may not be taking full advantage of all talent and learn the ways they can solve their diverse talent recruitment and retention challenges.

July 28: Put to the test: When you are faced with a workplace investigation — Maureen Rouse-Ayoub, Varnum Law LLP

Employers must be aware of the challenges of workplace equity. If harassment claims arise, employers must be prepared to respond promptly to meet legal obligations and minimize negative impact on employee morale and productivity. Rouse-Ayoub will walk participants through a workplace investigation and will provide tips for navigating this sensitive process.

August 4: Diverse Leadership – Empowering diverse leaders in your organization — Yemi Akande, Focus

Nearly 10,000 baby boomers retire from the workforce every day. That wave of change is leaving a void in the leadership ranks of many organizations. How should that void be filled? The key to leading tomorrow’s organizations is taking advantage of all potential leaders. Participants will learn how their organization can make an intentional and systematic plan to recruit and develop diverse leaders and embed critical talent in their business succession plan.
