Bill facilitating innovative delivery technology gets final approval

Posted on

Companies like Amazon and FedEx will soon be able to deploy innovative delivery technology in Missouri thanks to the passage of Senate Bill 176.

Personal Delivery Devices, or PDDs, are machines able to bring goods directly to homes and businesses, making it faster and more convenient than ever to get packages delivered.

The bill, sponsored by Sen. Lincoln Hough (R-Springfield), was finalized on May 3. When a bill is Truly Agreed to and Finally Passed — often simply referred to as TAFP — it goes to the governor’s desk to be signed into law. Rep. Travis Fitzwater (R-Holts Summit) handled the legislation in the House.

Having clear policy in place for the use of PDDs will put Missouri on the map for companies utilizing these devices. Their use could also help reduce road congestion by relieving some of the need to ship products by truck.
