Leadership Missouri Alumni rally to help restore Missouri Governor’s Mansion

The Missouri Governor’s Mansion is our state’s front door. Tens of thousands of visitors from across the country visit the mansion each year. Foreign dignitaries dine there. It is critical that Missouri makes a strong first impression with our visitors, and the condition of the mansion plays an important role in that.

Unfortunately, there are numerous maintenance issues inside the mansion today. The Friends of the Missouri Governor’s Mansion organization has identified problems throughout the home, including visibly-damaged crown molding, worn-out carpeting and historic lighting fixtures in need of complex upkeep.

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry has long used the Missouri Governor’s Mansion as the site of a reception to help kick off each year’s Leadership Missouri program. Leadership Missouri is Missouri’s premier statewide leadership experience, guiding the state’s top emerging leaders through seven months of information sessions across Missouri. Hundreds of Missourians have graduated from the program since it was founded in 1990.

Now, the Leadership Missouri Alumni Association is embarking on a major campaign to help spearhead the fundraising effort to restore the governor’s mansion.

The alumni association is asking the program’s graduates and their organizations to donate to the cause at MissouriMansion.com. When they give, the alumni association will provide a matching donation.

“The graduates of Leadership Missouri are some of our state’s most engaged leaders today. We are excited to use our growing alumni network to give back to the governor’s mansion, a home that has given so much to our program,” said Daniel P. Mehan, president and CEO of the Missouri Chamber and a Leadership Missouri graduate.
