Two Missouri Chamber members recognized among 50 most powerful women in business

Two members of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce are considered by Fortune Magazine to be among “The 50 Most Powerful Women in Business” in the world.

Sarah London was ranked 39th. She became CEO of Centene Corp. earlier this year. It’s the first time she has made this list.

Penny Pennington was ranked 43rd. She is managing partner at Edward Jones and this is the fourth straight year that she has made the list.

London previously served as  Centene’s senior vice president of technology innovation and modernization. Before joining the company in 2020, she was a partner at Optum Ventures, the venture capital arm of UnitedHealth Group.

Pennington began her Edward Jones career in 2000 as a financial adviser in Michigan. In 2019, Pennington became the sixth managing partner in the company’s 100-year history. She ranked 34th on the list in 2021, 33rd in 2020 and 45th in 2019.

Fortune has ranked the most powerful women in business using four criteria: the size and importance of each woman’s business in the global economy; the health and direction of the business; the arc of her career; and her social and cultural influence. In 2020, it added a new factor: how the executive is wielding her power.
