Senate continues budget work

The state budget process continued in a Missouri Senate committee this week with lawmakers considering several important pro-business appropriations.

Funding proposals under consideration include:

  • Onshoring industries that are vital to national security.
  • Improving employee retention via improved access to childcare.
  • Support for computer science job training.
  • Fully restored Missouri River Runner Amtrak service.
  • Enhancing Missouri’s river port system.
  • Supporting international livestock trade efforts.
  • Economic development program enhancements.
  • Health care job training.
  • A geospatial intelligence training program for high school students.

As these discussions continue, the Missouri Chamber is also working to ensure budget bills are not used as a vehicle to pass anti-business language that would override employer vaccine policies.

The Senate will continue budget work next week ahead of the state’s May 6 constitutional budget deadline.
