Missouri Chamber urges Gov. Parson to sign pro-business bills

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry has written to Gov. Mike Parson, formally requesting his signature on a number of pro-business bills that the Missouri General Assembly sent to his desk during the 2022 Legislative Session.

Bills the Missouri Chamber urged the governor to sign were:

• HB 2168 – Modernizing the unemployment system
• HB 2400 – Creating a research & development tax credit to encourage Missouri-made innovation; improving the One Start program to make Missouri’s jobs training resources easier for employers to use
• HB 2485 – Allowing advanced recycling in Missouri
• HB 3002 – Funding to launch innovative childcare models aimed at giving parents the support they need to get back into the workforce
• HB 3007 – Funds to help onshore high-tech manufacturing industries
• HB 3020 – Allocating funds from the American Rescue Plan Act
• SB 672 – extending and expanding the Fast Track workforce development scholarship program
• SB 718 – bolstering the workforce by creating new avenues to help Missourians attain a diploma and requiring high schools to offer computer science coursework
• SB 745 – allowing further improvements and upgrades to utility infrastructure

According to Missouri law, the governor has 45 days to act on bills sent to his desk when the legislature has adjourned. Gov. Parson has a variety of actions available to him for each bill: sign it into law, veto it or take no action, resulting in the bill becoming law by default after the deadline has passed.
