2023 STEM Day at the Capitol

YouTube video

Thank you for a great event!

Our annual STEM Day at the Capitol in Jefferson City was held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, with a focus on K-12, higher education, business and industry STEM programming.  Each year the Missouri Chamber’s Math and Science Coalition hosts its annual STEM Day at the Capitol celebration and exhibit. Hundreds of students, educators and business professionals will showcase some of the innovative efforts underway in Missouri to encourage and inspire tomorrow’s STEM talent. Previous programs have included a Boeing F-18 flight simulator, FIRST Robotics Competition, electrical circuits with Honeywell, chemical reactions with Pfizer, and much more.

Takeaways for the event:

  • Showcase STEM efforts in K-12, higher education, and business and industry
  • Share your passion and excitement for STEM with Missouri State Legislators
  • Demonstrate the impact that STEM has on student learning and success
  • Network with legislators and other key STEM educators, professionals and program directors

What you can expect as a student group:

  • Exhibits will be open from 9 a.m. — 1 p.m. in the third floor Rotunda of the Capitol Building
  • There will be hands-on activities and demonstrations by the various exhibitors that students, educators and the public can take part in
  • A variety of STEM professionals and experts will be on hand to connect and discuss ways that classrooms, schools and even businesses can engage in STEM education
  • Handouts and promotional giveaways will be available from various exhibitors
  • State department staff from various education agencies will be onsite to connect with
  • Student groups can meet with their individual legislators during the day
  • Registration is required — this event is limited to 500 students!

What you can expect as an exhibitor:

  • Due to space restrictions, there is a limited number of exhibitor spaces for this event.  If you are interested in being an exhibitor, please contact Brian Crouse at bcrouse@mochamber.com or call (573) 634-3511.
  • Each exhibitor must provide some type of hands-on-activity or simulation that students K-12 could interact with.
  • Exhibitors should plan to arrive between 7:30 a.m. — 8:45 a.m. with displays, materials and handouts. It is recommended that any heavy boxes or displays be brought in on wheeled carts or dollies.
  • There is limited access to electricity for exhibitors. If your organization needs power to run a display or activity, please confirm this at the time that you register or prior to program. Also, please bring any power cords and power strips needed for your exhibit.
