STEM Day at the Capitol

Posted on

Hundreds of students and education supporters will rally at the Missouri Capitol on Thursday in a celebration of the state’s growing math and science efforts. The annual STEM Day at the Capitol, hosted by the Missouri Chamber Foundation’s Mathematics and Science Coalition, highlights this important part of our economy and the opportunities STEM education provides to students.  Missouri Chamber members will provide hands-on technology for students and guests, including an F-18 flight simulator brought in by the Boeing Company.

At 12:30 p.m., students will compete for The Capitol Cup in a FIRST Lego League Robotics Challenge.

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a strong supporter of science and math education in Missouri. Through the Missouri Chamber Foundation, the chamber engages businesses and education leaders statewide to help ensure Missouri’s students are prepared to enter tomorrow’s workforce.

“STEM careers are a vital and growing part of our economy,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber president and CEO. “It is important to make lawmakers aware of the opportunities that these careers can provide students and why policies are needed to support growth and investment in these areas.”

All reporters are invited to attend any portion of the day’s agenda.  (Full agenda follows.)
