Statement: Business community backs Gov. Parson’s focus on transportation, workforce
Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry President and CEO Daniel P. Mehan released the following statement in response to Gov. Mike Parson’s State of the State address.
“Since taking office last summer, Gov. Mike Parson has demonstrated an innate understanding that Missouri’s economic future hinges on our ability to fix our deteriorating transportation system and equip Missourians with the skills needed for today’s jobs. Regarding transportation, we support Gov. Parson’s decision to move forward on addressing some of the most ominous infrastructure problems facing the state. For the sake of the safety of all Missourians and for the efficient movement of goods and products across Missouri, we must address these issues now. Likewise, we must push forward in our work to bring innovative workforce preparation systems to Missouri. Talent is today’s economic development incentive. The governor’s focus on this issue shows he is prepared to lead on workforce development and ensure Missourians have access to the skills and training they need to remain highly relevant in today’s workforce. The Missouri Chamber and our state’s business community stand united with the governor on these important issues. We look forward to advocating for them in the Missouri General Assembly this session.”
