Senate continues budget work

The state budget process continued in a Missouri Senate committee this week with lawmakers considering several important pro-business appropriations.
Funding proposals under consideration include:
- Onshoring industries that are vital to national security.
- Improving employee retention via improved access to childcare.
- Support for computer science job training.
- Fully restored Missouri River Runner Amtrak service.
- Enhancing Missouri’s river port system.
- Supporting international livestock trade efforts.
- Economic development program enhancements.
- Health care job training.
- A geospatial intelligence training program for high school students.
As these discussions continue, the Missouri Chamber is also working to ensure budget bills are not used as a vehicle to pass anti-business language that would override employer vaccine policies.
The Senate will continue budget work next week ahead of the state’s May 6 constitutional budget deadline.
