Missouri Chamber honors Rob Dixon with Leadership Missouri Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award
Each year, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognizes an outstanding graduate of Leadership Missouri who has exemplified the mission of the program and demonstrated strong leadership over the course of their career. This year’s award will be presented to Rob Dixon during the Missouri Chamber’s annual Missouri Business Awards held in Kansas City on Nov. 15.
Founded by the Missouri Chamber in 1990, the Leadership Missouri program takes current and emerging leaders throughout the state to hone their leadership skills and expand their knowledge of the state’s challenges and opportunities.
A 2012 graduate of Leadership Missouri, Rob Dixon now serves as Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. He is spearheading Best in Midwest, an initiative to create a new strategy for economic development that will grow businesses and jobs as well as help workers access training and develop the skills that today’s employers need. Early in his career he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, worked in a variety of roles at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and was the Executive Director of the Hollister Area of Chamber of Commerce. He also held the position of President/CEO of the Missouri Community College Association.
“Under Rob Dixon’s leadership, our state is seeing a fresh economic development effort come to life,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber president and CEO. “Rob’s expertise as an economic developer has already been a great asset to Missouri and will continue to be as he implements Best in Midwest in alignment with the business community’s efforts to grow our state. We thank him for his work and we’re honored to count him among our Leadership Missouri alumni.”
