Bill to streamline state’s job training programs passes Senate

Posted on

On April 18, the Missouri Senate passed a bill to streamline and improve the state’s workforce training programs.

Senate Bill 184 sponsored by Sen. Wayne Wallingford will help:

  • make Missouri’s job training resources easier for employers to use
  • implement performance-based funding instead of a flat fee
  • allow more of the funding to actually go toward job training
  • and more.

Upskilling our state’s workforce is a key component of Missouri 2030, the Missouri Chamber’s 15-year strategic initiative.

“We hear consistently from our members that they have open jobs, but lack workers with the skills necessary to fill them. Closing this skills gap by delivering tailored workforce training solutions to Missouri employers is critical if we want those businesses to thrive and expand,” said Kara Corches, Missouri Chamber director of legislative affairs.

The House version of One Start is House Bill 469, sponsored by Rep. Derek Grier.
