Missouri Chamber disappointed in the defeat of proposition to increase investment in roads and bridges

Statement by Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber President/CEO

“Last night’s defeat of Proposition D is a setback, but not the end of our work to secure a sustainable funding stream for our transportation system. It is too important an issue to give up and we must do a better job of letting voters know just how critical the need is in our state. This funding is desperately needed to help maintain and improve the infrastructure that supports our economy and, most important, keeps our families safe. We have known for years that the condition of our transportation system was creating a bottleneck on our growth. In fact, our own Missouri 2030 Gallup survey shows that only 37 percent of our state’s business leaders are satisfied with the condition of our roads and transportation infrastructure. This vote is over, but our work continues.”
