Gov. Parson gives special protections to critical infrastructure by signing House Bill 355
Gov. Mike Parson has signed a bill to protect the state’s pipelines and other critical infrastructure from harmful acts of trespassing and tampering.
House Bill 355, sponsored by Rep. Dean Plocher (R-St. Louis), creates stronger penalties for individuals who willfully damage or willfully trespass onto critical infrastructure facilities.
The Missouri Chamber was an active supporter of the bill during the 2019 Legislative Session, which will help prevent costly damage and interruption to such facilities that some other states have already experienced.
“House Bill 355 proactively secures the critical infrastructure assets that are essential to our economic stability and national security,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber president and CEO. “It is crucial that we strengthen protections for these services and systems that provide such important resources to Missouri families and businesses every day, so we thank Gov. Parson for signing this bill into law.”
