Gov. Parson signs bill unlocking additional federal funding
Gov. Mike Parson has signed House Bill 14, providing access to additional federal funds for Missouri, including Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act dollars.
“COVID-19 has had an overwhelming impact on our state, but we are already making great progress. This additional funding will be critical as we continue to respond, recover, and move Missouri forward,” said Parson.
The $1.2 billion supplemental budget bill — about $1.17 billion of which is federal funds — appropriates additional resources for Missouri’s COVID-19 response. These programs include job training grants and other emergency response efforts coordinated by the state.
Missouri has until Dec. 30 to spend its federal dollars received under the CARES Act. It is expected that Missouri will transfer a significant portion of unspent money allocated to local governments to the state unemployment insurance fund.
