How do schools and districts take a concerted effort to improve their STEM programs and curriculum? They use the Carnegie STEM Pathways Initiative as the starting point. Since 2015, schools across the nation have been adopting the Carnegie STEM Pathway to advance their STEM efforts. Using the STEM pathway rubric tool as developed by the Carnegie Science Center, STEM Leadership Teams will learn to work across the education delivery model to address existing STEM integration work and to develop a practical plan for more effective STEM education.
Hosted by the Missouri Mathematics and Science Coalition (a program of the Missouri Chamber), in partnership with the Carnegie Science Center, the Northeast Regional Professional Development Center and Truman State University, this workshop will be facilitated by Coalition members and professional staff from the Northeast Regional Professional Development Center.
A STEM Leadership Team of 3-12 participants can consist of school district leadership, principals, curriculum design professionals, CTE center directors, STEM educators, afterschool directors and/or STEM resource professionals.
Cost: No cost to attendees.
Registration deadline is September 19.
Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Because afterschool programs can greatly enhance the STEM education that students receive, the Missouri AfterSchool Network (MASN)’s STEM Committee would like to encourage and support participation by afterschool administrators on their district team. School districts that include Afterschool program professionals can apply for a micro-grant sponsored by the Missouri AfterSchool Network for reimbursement of expenses up to $500. This can be used to cover travel expenses, substitutes for afterschool educators, or related expenses for afterschool professionals to attend as a member of the leadership team. To apply for up to $500 in support, please use this form.
