The Missouri Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Envision Healthcare to help employers stabilize spiraling health care costs through an innovative health insurance alternative, Missouri Chamber Care. Together, our vision is simple: We want to change the way employers provide health care benefits.

The Problem
The current health care system is broken because it insulates employees from the true costs. Because employees and providers don’t have a stake in controlling health care costs, both sides often seek and deliver the most expensive method of treatment. Missouri Chamber Care’s consumer-based approach allows the patient and his or her doctor to make health care decisions based on choice, need, and financial impact. When the patient, rather than the insurance company, has the power and the financial responsibility to make these choices, we have found that the patient will pick the method of care that most effectively meets the need.

Our Solution
The Missouri Chamber Care solution empowers employees to make their own health care decisions while providing a means for becoming conscientious consumers. The program combines traditional health insurance coverage with a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). The HRA funding vehicle is an account owned by the company and provided to the employee on a defined credit-limit basis. Monies in that account are used on an as-needed basis to reimburse expenses on behalf of the employee when medical expenses are actually incurred.
